What this comparison does and does not do
- It compares selectable text only. Scanned pages without a text layer show no changes.
- Images, colours, fonts and layout are not compared.
- Pages are matched by position: page 1 is compared with page 1, and so on.
- A page that exists in only one file is reported as an added or removed page.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are my PDF files uploaded anywhere?
No. Both files are read inside your browser with the bundled PDF engine, and the comparison runs on your device.
Why does a scan show no differences?
A scanned PDF is an image with no text layer, so there is nothing to compare. Run OCR first if you need to compare scanned documents.
Can I compare password-protected files?
Not directly. Unlock PDF first, then compare the resulting copies.
