How to redact a PDF

How this differs from drawing a black box
- A black rectangle added on top of a PDF leaves the text underneath, and anyone can copy it.
- This tool rasterizes each page and paints the redaction into the pixels, so the original text is not stored in the output.
- The price is that the whole document becomes images: text is no longer selectable or searchable.
- A very small box may not fully cover large text; draw boxes slightly wider than the content.

Is the redaction permanent?
In the downloaded file, yes: the pages are rebuilt as images and the covered text is not part of the file. Keep the original if you may need the text later.
Are my files uploaded?

Can I redact only one page?
You can draw on any page you need. Every page is rasterized in the output, including pages without boxes.
